Connection
Food unites us across cultures, generations, and distances.

At first glance, all we see is a plate.
But beneath every plate, something is moving
roots
memories
hands that cared for the earth.
What we eat is born from below
from soil, from seeds, from stories someone once planted.
Under the Plate is a community cookbook and a gathering table: recipes that taste like home, and experiences to learn what's behind our food.
A community cookbook, and experiences that bring us to the table.
Real people share the dishes that taste like home, kept exactly as they wrote them, in their own language, with the story behind each one: who taught it, where it comes from, why it matters.

We create events where people learn about food through experience: cooking, tasting and talking around one table.

For us, cooking is never just about nourishment it is an act of love. Every recipe we share carries a story, every flavor holds a memory, and together they remind us of our bond with nature, with one another, and with ourselves.
What matters most to us is the exchange: sharing recipes with people from different places and backgrounds. We believe that food is one of the most precious forms of knowledge we can pass on. Each dish carries wisdom, tradition, and care treasures that become even richer when shared.
Food unites us across cultures, generations, and distances.
Fruits and vegetables and everything that nourish, are more than ingredients; they are gifts from the earth.
Every recipe tells where we come from, who we are, and what we cherish.

Cooking is a gesture of care, a way to nourish not just the body but also the soul.

Each of these recipes is born from the heart, shared by people across the world who carry with them the flavors of home. Taste their stories, feel their warmth, and enjoy.
A new recipe every week
Our first gathering took place at Fola, in Milan, in April. We came together with some of the people who share their recipes with us, around one table, to talk about what's really under the plate.
We spoke about where our food comes from the stories behind the ingredients we love, and how far they've traveled to reach us. And we spoke about what we might lose. Climate change is putting some of our favorite drinks at risk.
It was a simple evening, but it stayed with us. Food is never just food it's memory, it's connection. Thank you to everyone who pulled up a chair.

Share the dish that tastes like home, or come sit with us at the next gathering.
